Eldon Tool and Engineering Ltd is a stimulating and challenging place to work and this is an excellent opportunity to work as part of the mechanical design team to assist in the compilation of drawings for submission and approval to both customer and manufacturing requirements.

If you are educated to degree level or are industry experienced as a mechanical engineer in the automotive/aerospace sector as a designer with experience and proficiency in the use of Autodesk Inventor 3D modelling software, then we are looking for you. Having Auto-cad and Inventor experience would be advantageous, but it is essential that you are self- motivated, a team player with excellent attention to detail, and you possess the ability to follow a job through from design to manufacture.

Hours: 37 per week, Monday to Friday, with an early finish of 1p.m. on Fridays

The Role:
Working as part of the mechanical design team you will consider innovative ideas, cost effectiveness & robustness of designs for future products. You will collate, manage and distribute technical details/information to various internal and external departments with the business. General parts of the role include the following:
  • To design solutions for sales based on requests from product development managers, General Manager & parent company requirements for new products to market.
  • Design and develop new products and concepts for automotive tooling, whilst sustaining existing product ranges and updates.
  • Designing of sheet metal, machined components and fabrication assemblies.
  • To project manage design from initial NPi stage through prototype build and final release to production.
  • Create BOM in the MRP system for costing and production planning purposes.
  • Creation of drawing packs and technical documentation for internal and external use.
  • Quality check bought and manufactured prototype components.
  • Issue and update engineering change notice requests and ensure drawing records are maintained.
  • Conduct new product introduction meetings with production departments.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Degree educated or industry experienced in a mechanical engineering role.
  • Proven work experience as a mechanical engineer in the automotive, aerospace, mechanical handling sectors advantages.
  • Engineering background with experience in the design of automotive products and associated tooling preferable but not essential.
  • Engineering understanding of machining, assembly & fabrication processes.
  • Must be experienced and proficient in the use of Autodesk Inventor 3d modelling software package.
  • Experience of Autocad & Inventor advantageous.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), and IT skills (MS Office) are essential.
  • Be self-motivated, a team player and possess excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to bring innovative solutions to the business.
  • Ability to follow through from the start of a job until completing – design, cost, sample, BOM creation, packing, launch.
  • An appreciation of lean manufacturing would be beneficial.
